New AdSense for Mobile Apps
Google has just launched their AdSense for Mobile system to allow publishers to display ads within their mobile web applications. And the apps must be true “mobile” applications. This means they must be written specifically to target handheld devices, such as phones and PDAs. So, if you want to take advantage of this new revenue source, you’ll probably need to do some work on your site to make sure it plays well with those devices.
There are numerous articles out there describing the process of making your website mobile. I found an article on Microsoft’s Small Business Center website titled, “5 Tips for Making Your Website Wireless Friendly.” There are also a number of blogs that discuss ways to make your site work well on mobile devices. One of the best posts I found was on the Mike Industries blog. The post was titled, “Make Your Site Mobile-Friendly in Two Minutes.”
Before getting too deep into converting your site, you’ll want to be sure to read Google’s mobile ads policy. This will help to clarify just what type of site Google is expecting, and it will also give you the limitations placed on use of their mobile ad system. To learn more about the Google Adsense for Mobile Apps system, you may visit the mobile section of their AdSense Blog.
